Columbiana

My husband and I just watch the movie COLUMBIANA yesterday, starring Zoe Saldana. It was a story about a little girl who grew up in Columbia, and whose family was killed do to drug violence. She vows to revenge her family and dedicates her life to making that possible.

I do not want to give too much away, the point I want to get to is this.... It made me think about my kids and how I want them to be prepared for any situation that comes their way. The goofy stuff that has been going on in my mom and dads neighborhood already had me on edge, and this movie made me think more about preparedness.

Most of us will hopefully never have to mess with a drug lord or anything like that, but I would like to have my kids ready for things they may encounter. everyday in the news you hear about more and more things like bombs, shootings, break ins, etc.

How do I balance the innocence with their safety?
