More on Running

I have a good friend who likes to run at the gym as her main form of exercise. I do good to walk on a treadmill at 3mph for 20 minutes. She can go at a full out run for 5 miles or more, I would love to be able to run like that.

She usually runs on a treadmill because it is easier on her joints. It does not matter where I run,,,err,,,walk, I hurt when I am done. I know it will take me a while to get back into shape, but it sure does not feel great getting there. I know that eventually I will feel better once I get my cardiovascular in better condition, I just have a long road to travel to get there.

I love long slow walks, or hikes, but people that are out jogging or running always looks so relaxed and free to me. I want to have to option of running when I want to, or when I need to. It would be so great to be able to play longer with the kids without getting winded or being sore for three days after.

What is your preferred exercise for relaxation? How about for all out fitness?
