Carport Resort !

Yup! That is what we are going to call our carport...Carport Resort!

So far this year we have held a wedding rehearsal dinner, a bridal shower, almost a wedding reception and now we are having a 4Th of July combo party this year. It is a combo party because it will be our regular family 4th of July get together and a send off party for our friend that is going in to the Army in August.

That part of the party will be a bitter sweet one, since we are proud of him by doing this for his family and his country, but it is always a little nerve racking to say the least when someone goes into the military. These days when someone signs up it is an even bigger decision I think since they go in knowing we are already at war. There is no chance that they will get through their tour of duty without going to combat, since there is already something going on.

So this 4th of July remember that it is a holiday to celebrate our independence, and stop a moment to remember and thank all of the servicemen and women past and present that help to make our freedom possible...GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Credit Woes Getting in Your Way?

It is a fact of life these days that you need at least decent credit to get ahead. It use to be that bad credit only made a difference for big things like purchasing a house, or a car, or getting a good credit card. Now it seems they run a credit check before you can go through a fast food drive thru. I know that is an exaggeration, but not by much.

If you need credit repair I found this site called Repairyourbadcredit.com, that has quite a bit of credit repair information. There are testimonials on the site from previous happy customers, so they must have made a few people happier about their credit score. I am not sure what the service costs, but a good credit score can save you money on everything from credit cards themselves, to car insurance, so it probably pays for itself.

So if you want help repair bad credit, you can check out that site and see what they have to say. Keep on top of your credit because it will definitely help you with so many things in the long run. Taking the time to fix it now before you really need it would be a good plan in my opinion. I know we go to extra lengths to take good care of my husband's credit and I have been trying to rebuild mine for a while. Take care of your credit so that it can take care of you when you need it!

Farewell to Farrah

Well it seems to have happened again, we lost three famous people in a row,,,,Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and now Michael Jackson. The other day I was watching E News I think it was, and they had just started talking about how Farrah Fawcett had passed earlier that day. The screen went black, but you could still hear the words of the report about Farrah. All of the sudden they started showing pictures of Michael Jackson and saying that he died at 50 years of age or something like that.

My first thought, was that it was some sort of hacker hoax or something. Then the report on Farrah started over with the right words matching the right video of her. Then I REALLY thought it was some sort of goofy error. Then a BREAKING NEWS logo flashed on the screen and Ryan Seacrest starts to report that Michael Jackson had indeed passed away.

Now while I felt shock and the average amount of sadness that you feel when you hear of someone passing away, I was also upset for Farrah Fawcett and her family that their time was cut short because Michael Jackson happened to pass away as well. I was never a huge fan of either entertainer, but it just seemed rude that the report on her passing was deemed less important than that of Michael Jackson. It seems she was at least worthy of her own date in history as it were.

I don't know, maybe this will be a good thing for Farrah's loved ones,, maybe now they won't be hounded by the media since the paparazzi will be busy stalking the Jackson's.

Getting Help For Addiction Problems

My family and I were talking about addicitions the other day. There are many types of addictions, and there seems to be a new addiction everyday. Food addiction, sex addiction, alcohol addiction. We were talking about how easy it is to end up with an addiction problem even from prescription medication.

Luckily there are places to get help for most any problem. There is this site called Rehabinfo.net that can be used as an addiction resource information center. If you or a loved one is having problems and needs to find alcohol rehab info or perhaps drug rehab info, this would be a great site on which to start your search.

On the home page of the site they are featuring a place called the Seasons in Malibu. This place looks beautiful in the pictures. I have said it before, I wish I could go to a place that looks like that for a vacation. I do not want to have the problems that they treat of course, but I do have a few issues with food.. Hopefully you and your loved ones will never need this type of help, but it is nice to know the places are there just in case you do need them.

Dust Bunnies On The Run

I spent most of the day yesterday chasing dust bunnies at my grandpa's house. I am still worn out from the wedding and stuff, but I have been wanting to get to his house for a while now. One my cousins goes to his house on a regular basis and does the normal cleaning like sweeping, dusting, etc. His house has needed a good "spring cleaning" type of cleaning though.

He has also been having some breathing problems, so I wanted to get some extra dust out of his house for him. You know how years of knick knacks and family photos can collect dust. I spent the day yesterday cleaning out his bedroom, we all agreed that was the best place to start since you can breath and sleep better in a clean bedroom.

The hardest part about cleaning his house is the mini-blinds. I was going to soak them in his tub, but I forgot that he had gotten one of those walk in shower conversions. So I took the blinds and my bucket of Pine-sol outside and tackled them with the hose. The fact that is was like 90 degrees yesterday sure helped dry those puppies fast!

I wish all dust bunnies were as cute as the ones from "The Big Comfy Couch" lol..oh well!

Joint Replacement Problems

I know three people who have recently gotten some sort of joint replacement surgery, whether it was hip or knee replacement. I was just reading that there are problems with a type of hip joint made by Zimmer Durom. I guess there are issues on zimmer durom cup becoming loose after surgery.

I am going to have to check with my friends and see if they know what kind of joint they got inserted, and make sure they know that there are potentially problems with it if they have this type. I saw this mentioned on MCTPLaw.com, they have a whole blog dedicated to this problem so if you need a durom lawyer, or other information on the durom lawsuit this would be a good place to start looking for help and information.

I would hate to think of anyone going through the whole joint replacement process only to have to have it removed or replaced again. I wonder why they do not catch this type of problem in the testing phase of a product. I thought that was the point of the FDA or whoever oversees this type of thing. I am so tired of recalls and the like from all sorts of companies....start checking your products better before you release them!

We Survived The Wedding

I have not stopped by to blog in a few days, that is because I am completely EXHAUSTED! I think we pulled it all off, the rehearsal dinner, the reception, eve my girls walked down the aisle without a scene,,yea!!

The bride was beautiful, the parents cried, food and dancing followed, all in all it was a good couple of days. The evening after the reception that brides parents and my mom and I sat outside talking until 2:30 am just trying to unwind from the weeks of preparation. It was like we had to rehash it to get it to sink in that it really happened, lol.

After doing all that work on the outside of mom and dad's house, we ended up switching venues at the last minute. A church hall that we had called about before because available the day before,,,yes the day before. We hesitated because we had almost everything ready to go here. The deciding factor I think was the weather, as it was suppose to storm later that evening. It had already been raining sideways that morning. There were other pluses to the church hall, like parking extra bathrooms, etc so all in all it made sense to move it.

As we sat under the carport that night after the reception, we all looked around at the hard work we had all put in and sighed. We all agreed that it was still worth it for several reasons, it got the house spruced up for mom and dad, we all got to reconnect as a family, and we could still use the carport for other get togethers over the summer. We are already planning something for the 4th of July and we are hoping to get a card party together before that...we will see.

We all did our best to make the bride as happy as possible on her day, so I think we all feel good about that. I am sure more stories will trickle out from the day.

Internet Got My Cousin The Right Lawyer

My cousin is a truck driver and is constantly on the move.
We worry about him all the time due to being on the road a lot.
Last week he told us about am accident he was involved in and that it was not his fault.
He was emphatic about it not being his fault too.
Long story short he needed a Pennsylvania auto accident lawyer to make sure all of his rights were protected.
He will have to go back to Philadelphia for his hearing and he went on the internet and found the perfect lawyer in that area to represent him.
I wish more Lawyers would put up web sites so you can see their credentials and see if they are right for you in what ever state you are in.
My cousin was smart for searching the net for help.
And the Law Firm was smart for putting up a web page.

Paula Dean Agoraphobic?

I read an article yesterday about Paula Dean having been an agoraphobic...I just find this hard to believe.
She is so very outgoing and just plain loud and obnoxious at times.
Talk about a complete turn around...WOW!
I have seen her with some of her male guests and she makes me blush with what she says or infers to them.
I really can't believe she was a shut in type.
Sometimes I think it would be best if she stayed shut up at home.
But that is only my opinion.

An Awesome Place to Stay in Myrtle Beach

We were all talking about possible honeymoon locations for my cousin and one of the ideas we all agreed on was a Myrtle Beach Resort of some kind. As I was looking around the net for information on Myrtle Beach Resorts I came across a site called TowersOnTheGrove.com. The resort itself looks really nice, it is definitely an Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Resort, I mean it sits right on the beach.

It looks like a really nice place to stay and the site is really cool too. Just for the heck of it I put in the dates around my own anniversary to see what the prices were like. I can not believe how decent they were. It says we can get a one or even two bedroom oceanfront room for less than we paid for a regular hotel room the last time we traveled. My anniversary is in October, so it might be the off season, but I love going to the beach in the fall. I would much rather visit anywhere south in a cooler month.

There are all sorts of extras you can add on to your room like champagne, or rose petals, balloons, etc. They also have some awesome inclusive packages you can buy where you can go to a dinner theater, or go sailing and your room is included in the daily rate. I really must remember this place when we do plan a romantic trip for our anniversary some year.

Bye, Bye Brett

Do you ever watch Food Network? They have a show on there called the Next Food Network Star. I usually don't manage to see the whole season, but I have seen the first two episodes so far. I can not believe what happened tonight..

There is the one guy names Brett. He and another guy helped one of the female contestants ( I am blanking on names, probably because I am angry), she was running short on time so they offered to help her plate her dishes. THEY OFFERED to help her, she did not ask. All they did was put some food in some dishes for her. They did not do any of her cooking or anything like that. They were both offering help, and then when it comes to the stage in the show when people are getting cut, Brett pats the gal on the shoulder and says something snarky about helping her...arg! What an ass!

He ended up getting cut thank goodness, but I am a little disappointed in the judges that they did not talk about Brett's actions at all. It was almost like he helped her so that he could later say, "Well you could not have done it with out me babe"... again what an ass! At least he is gone,,go riddance.

A Great Foreclosure Blog

I mentioned freeforeclosureblog.com before. It is this great site with tons of Free REO foreclosure information. I stopped by there tonight to check out their current list of offerings and was reminded of why I like the sight. The site is free, it does not seem like they are trying to scam people for information. At the bottom of one section a person names Gwen put a personal note about her opinion of a recent real estate auction she attended. I love personal touches like that.

If you are looking for information Real Estate Owned Foreclosures this is cool site to check out. I also like that I do not have to fill out any forms on this site. I am so tired of these sites that say they are going to give you information on foreclosures, when in fact it seems that all they are doing is compiling mailing lists. If someone is really giving you free information on something, it should be just that FREE, with no strings attached.

I don't know about other people, but I for one am tired of scammers and spammers, this site seems like the real deal. Check it out.

More on Meditation and Health

I was looking around the net at other ideas for health and relaxation. Have you ever heard of Himalayan salt lamps? I have never heard of them until I stumbled upon them on a shopping website. I can not even remember which one it was now, but I do know I saw them on walmart.com too.

They are really pretty looking lamps as they are called, but they do not look like a traditional lamp. They are like a rock that you plug in. I don't know if it warms up or what, but it is suppose to emit some sort of positive ions or something that are suppose to make you feel better.
Small Salt Lamp Pictures, Images and Photos photo from photobucket.com

I even saw one that was the salt lamp with massage balls made out of the salt as well. I am thinking that the lamp is pretty and soothing to look at, and a massage is always a good thing. If there is no extra benefit to the salt it might not matter at that point LOL.

Have you ever tried one of these? Let me know what you thought of it..good or bad.

Yoga, Meditation and Singing Bowls

I was at the Y the other day and ran into a friend of mine who takes all sorts classes like pilates and yoga and the like.
She was trying to get me to join in one of the classes, but I just don't have the time right now.
She started telling me about how great she feels after yoga and all about the meditation and aromas and sounds that help heal and relax.
It was very interesting.
I happened to look online and found a web site that has Crystal Singing Bowls and it has a little bit of info about them.
They must be something dear to yoga people because they have a sale going on right now and it saves you like almost 50 per cent on retail costs.
They range from 6 inch bowl to 20 inch bowl and it says the larger bowl rings longer at a lower pitch.
I think I may do some more research on what the sounds can do to help healing processes.
Anyone ever use these bowls?
I would like more info on them.

Keeping Baby Memories

You know how when you start going through the baby clothes that the baby has out grown and the little stuffed animals that were their first best friend and you just hate to throw anything out?
I just had a brain storm of a sort.
If I take and very carefully cut some square from some of the gotta keep clothes and take the stuffing out of the animals you can sew them into a quilt.
The little animals look so cute popping their tiny heads up off the quilt and you get to still snuggle with the baby because you will have the clothes the baby wore that he/she looked soooo cute in.
Talk about a memories quilt...sniffle, sigh.
So now you can keep just about all of the clothes, animals and memories all in one place.

How Cute Is Pregnant Now?

Honestly !!! I found this web site that has the cutest and trendy maternity clothes.
When I was having children there was nothing at all out there to buy for clothes that didn't make you look like you put on a potato sack...and now they have just absolutely gorgeous clothes.
Some of them could be worn as regular clothes even now that I am not pregnant.
The colors and styles and hey...the prices are so low, I don't think I could go to a store and buy a regular outfit for what it would cost on this site.
There is even dressy outfits with a little pizazz of rhinestones.
I saw some cute shorts, slacks and capri pants.
Where the heck were all these cute styles of clothes when I needed them?!
Oh and another thing that this site offers is a discount for bloggers of 20 per cent.
Is that neat or what?
There is quite a bit on sale and clearance but honestly even the regular costs are very low.
This is a great web area to see some really cute stuff.

Deck The Halls With Pink and White

Remember how I said we were having my cousin's rehearsal dinner here? Well it has evolved into the rehearsal dinner, the bridal shower AND the reception LOL. We are very glad to do it of course, but I am freaking out about how we are going to be able to get the house and yard in to tip top shape in time for all the goings on.

The colors of the wedding are pink and white, and we are having the reception outside under the carport and into the yard. I want to hang at least plastic draping up along the sides of the carport to hide the garage doors and things like that. Then I would like to hand pink tulle or something in front of that to add some pizzazz and pink!

I want to deck the place out like a palace, but I do not have the money to do so. I just hope I can accomplish enough to make the bride happy. Every girl should be proud of her wedding day, even if it is on a budget. Wish me luck, and if any of you have thrifty wedding tips, please pass them on!t

Are You a Fan of Ceiling Fans?

I love ceiling fans. Not only do I like the cooling or ventilation they give, but the right one can really set off a room. It cracks me up when you watch the home remodeling shows on TV, if there is a ceiling fan in a room when the remodel the room they take it down. If the room does not have a ceiling fan in it, they add one, it never fails LOL.

I was looking around the net for a new Ceiling Fan and maybe a chandelier for another room. I found this nice site called HansenWholesale.com. The selection of ceiling fans is wonderful, and the prices aren't shabby either. I love this Emerson ceiling fan I saw when I first signed on. It is called the Emerson Midway ECO, it is suppose to be three times more efficient than a normal ceiling fan.

Hansen Wholesale Ceiling Fans come in all the styles you could want from super modern to classy elegance. If you are shopping for Ceiling Fans I would definitely check this site out. For that matter you should go there for lighting and fireplaces or even barbecue grills. There are many things I would like to add to my shopping cart, let me tell you!

The Missing Airplane

I could not believe it when I read that the wreckage they found in the Atlantic Ocean was not that of the missing Airplane. In one way this is good, because it gives us some shred of hope that the plane can be found. I mean nobody wants a hijack situation, but if the choice is between a crash and a hijack I would pick a hijack. At least with a hostage negotiation there would be a chance at getting people back alive.

The fact that this wreckage is not that of the missing plane just raises more questions. We still do not know where the plane is, and I am not sure if they know what the wreckage they found is either. Is it normal to find stuff just randomly burning in the middle of the ocean?

I still find it hard to believe that in this day and age, they can not make a black box or beacon of some sort that can survive a blast. I hope they find it soon so we can figure out what happened, and give some answers to the families and loved ones of the passengers on this flight.

Watches Watches and More Watches

Do you have a family member graduating from college or high school this year? There is this great site called TheWatchery.com, that I have talked about before. I was just thinking of what a great present a nice watch would be for any graduate. You could even have it engraved somewhere with the date of their graduation or a nice saying.

This site has all the most popular, stylish brands you are looking for. Names we all recognize like, Tag Heuer, Cartier, and Movado. This site usually has some awesome deals going on as well. I made the mistake of letting my hubby see the computer screen when I was on the site last time. He would really like to have this Movado that was on there today as the "Deal of the Day". I must admit it is a sharp looking watch.

So if you are looking for great deals and a huge selection of luxury watches, you have to check out TheWatchery.com. Don't forget to pick up something for yourself while you are there!

Father's day is coming up too, I could be nice and get this watch for my hubby for father's day. I think I will wait and surprise him when he graduates from college. It would make a nice topper on the special day of his graduation. Maybe I will have his degree or his final GPA engraved on the back.
