Will You Be Reading Ted Kennedy's Memoir?

I just read that the Memoirs of the late Ted Kennedy called "True Compass", will soon be released. I was wondering before I read the story if it was suppose to be held until after his death, but as I read more I learned that it was scheduled to be released in 2010. The publisher had moved up the release once when they learned of Kennedy's brain cancer, and then bumped up again after his death.

I sometimes wonder if a person's memoirs are published only AFTER their death, if they would be more truthful. I am not saying that this memoir is not truthful, that is just something I wonder in general. Usually people are more free with their thoughts when they think that they will not be around to deal with the aftermath.

It says that in the book he talks about his remorse over the death of Mary Jo Kopechne. This was a little before my time as far as knowing the details, but I have heard the rumors and cloud of doubt that hover over the topic. He says that his actions were "inexcusable", then explains that he did not call for help at the time of the accident and did not even report the accident until the next morning. Inexcusable?! Ya Think?!

He goes on to give his thoughts on Clinton, Lewinski, and The Warren Commission. I wonder if he had laid a bombshell in the book about JFK's assassination, if it would have been kept secret. these days it probably would have been leaked to the press.

There are many people would dream of being rich and famous like the Kennedy's. To me they seem to have more tragedy than any one family should be able to withstand. Somehow they keep persevering and staying strong as a family. My prayers to the Kennedy Family.

I just bought the book last night. I've always been fascinated with the Kennedy family. I can't imagine how they dealt with all that life handed them.
