NOT!
I think every generation has been into something that drove their parents crazy, like skateboarding or rock n roll, etc. Most of it is just a matter of personal interest and taste, parents and kids are rarely going to like the same music and I am ok with that. I draw the line, however, at POLE DANCING!
Yes, you heard me right, Pole Dancing. I am tired of the media or Hollywood, or the pedophiles of the world trying to push sex and sexy behavior on our children. There is nothing wrong with wanting your five year old to emulate Holly Hobby instead of some stripper. Every where you turn these days it seems "they" are trying to take away the innocense of children.
Things like these so called beauty pageants for little girls are disgusting. Little girls are born beautiful and then these deranged parents spend thousands of dollars on makeup, costumes, spray on tans, false teeth and so on. Just so that they can prance around on stage and look like a shrunken down little tramp. I think it is a form of child abuse.
But the thing that got me started on this topic today was an article I read about a toy that they think is real, but are not sure yet. A pole dancing doll, a doll that comes complete with a stripper pole! I sure hope that it is not real, but like the article says it is sad enough that it might be real. Then the article talks about how celebrities like Miley Cyrus are using pole dancing in their routines at events like the teen choice awards.
I wish little ones would emulate better people than some of the entertainers, but the fact is that they do want to be like Miley or Hannah Montana or whatever other flashy thing they see. If that is your audience then you need to set a better example. I try and limit what my kids see, but you can not cover their eyes all the time. There are plenty of adults to market to, please let my kids grow up at a normal pace. There is nothing wrong with them wanting to play with blocks or dress up like a princess (non x rated princess) for a few more years.
