I think we have all seen those commercials for Life Alert monitoring services. They kind of became a running joke because of the whole "I have fallen and can't get up" line, but it really is a useful service. What I did not realize is that these companies offer many other services that would be great for anyone living alone.

My parents aren't at the age where they might need this yet, but I am definitely going to keep it in mind for the future. I looked on BrickHouseAlert.com and was amazed at the variety of services they offer on top of the traditional Life Alert service we are most familiar with. You can get smoke detector monitoring, inactivity monitors, intruder alerts, and several other services.

There is one service that I would get for my dad if my mom was not around to take care of him, and that is the personal reminders. They offer this service to help people remember important things like medication times, doctors appointments etc. This service would be great for anyone with a busy life or a not so great memory. I guess there is more to Life Alert than we all thought.
