Man Sets Himself on Fire

If this is not a sign of the times, I do not know what is..... A 58 year old Chicago man soaked himself in lighter fluid and set himself on fire in a strip mall parking lot. The man had just left after his night shift at Wal-Mart when he decided to set himself on fire. Authorities have not released his name at this time.

I guess several passersby tried to help put out the flames with their coats, but the man refused their help. He was still conscious when paramedics arrived. When asked why he did such a thing, he simply replied that he "could not take it anymore". The man died later at the hospital. There was no mention in the article if the man left a suicide note anywhere.

I can understand someone feeling like they are at the end of their rope, but how bad must you feel to set yourself on fire? How people pick the means to end their life is quite a mystery to me. I can only hope that he is at peace now. My prayers go out to his family and friends.
